The Prince George Effect

First of all we had the “Kate Middleton effect” which was soon followed by the “Duchess effect” when she got married, but as we welcome Prince George into the world who is a mere one month old we look to be witnessing the “Prince George effect”.

As we all know Kate is cited as one of the most fashion influential people; everything she wears has proven to fly off the shelves within hours. As much so that every fashion designer wants Kate to wear their labels but she is often loyal to her favourite brands.

All eyes of the High Street however were pinned to the doors of St Mary’s Hospital waiting to see what she would wear on her first public appearance since having Prince George.

But now it seems that Our Prince is to follow suit and follow in the footsteps of his admired mother. The first thing we saw him in was a swaddle blanket created by New York based company, Aden + Anais which quickly reached unprecedented heights of popularity and as a result the company are enjoying an impressive 600% boom because all new mums want to own an item that Prince George has. In fact it is very difficult to get hold of this swaddle blanket and the website of Aden + Anais has crashed on numerous occasions as it cannot reach the demand. Apparently that's where Amazon is coming in handy for a lot of new parents...

Would you feel inclined to buy an item you saw Prince George wearing?

The recent arrival of the royal is expected to see the baby wear and kids wear industry boom and if anything this boom will not slow down. If the influence of what the Duchess of Cambridge wears is anything to go by then we expect no different with Prince George. The Centre for Retail Research predicted a 13% increase in the first few weeks of the Prince’s life with this rocketing by 50% week after week.

So what would you buy Prince George?

World leaders, close family, celebrities and other royal members have been showering the Prince with gifts such as a £6K teddy bear, a £13K playhouse and a Swarovski crystal dummy. There have also been some surprise gifts such as a baby crocodile which was born on the same day as Prince George.

But what would you buy the Prince that has everything that he could ever desire?

Our personal favourite is these baby suede moccasins by Coccole Store, perfect for the upcoming winter months. And if you cannot decide what colour to choose you can always go for two. You can expect these to keep your own Prince’s feet cozy as they are fur lined, but also make for a fantastic gift. They're entirely Made in Italy using the best of Italian leather. If you want to create an accessory combo, you can also opt for this lovely handmade scarf by Minimu' - available in both grey or charcoal.

Alternatively dress him in style with this two piece baby set by Minimu or choose a more classic look with Sergio, a gorgeous 100% cashmere round neck jumper by Mariella Ferrari. The Pietro set oozes style and no wardrobe would be complete without this. The set includes a striped long sleeved top and a pair of dark grey trousers featuring a cute frontal opening and a low crotch for a more comfort fit.

Why not buy a gift today that is perfect for YOUR Prince?
